Recirculating downdraft extractors
Exhaust air is ducted behind the cabinet back panel. If the same carcass has an open service opening for the cooker connection box, the air flows straight back into the cabinet through it. The cover seals the opening without giving up access.

Where the socket for a fridge or oven sits not behind the appliance but behind a neighbouring cabinet, the cover goes into that cabinet’s back panel. Opened, the appliance plug is directly within reach — the socket stays where it is and the storage space stays free.
